Testing Protocols

by voice_of_reason@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Oct 18, 2007 at 03:03 AM

Greetings:

I have been tasked with developing testing protocols for various
products. Basically that means determining what set or subset of ANSI
and/or ASTM testing standards we will use for the various products we
manufacture.

Rather than completely reinventing the wheel, I'm curious to know if
there is some sort of open-source database avialable that lists the
most relevant standards and "typical" tests for various consumer
products.

--OR--

Is there some sort of online searchable data base where I can do
something like type in a product name or catagory (like "BICYCLE" or
"GARDEN HOSE" or WOMEN'S APPAREL) and get a listing of the relelvant
ASTM or ANSI standards that address that product.

I have tried looking on the ASTM.org website. But seems all they offer
is a complete top-to-bottom listing of ALL their standards. They break
them out into broad industry categories (like textiles), but even this
listing is MUCH to comprehenisve.

Assistance appreciated.

Thanx!!
