I have 3 favorite business books that have been very helpful in
growing my company and propelling my career. I would recommend them
to anyone with similar aims.
1) How to Win Friends and Influence People By Dale Carnegie - If you
read only one business book, this should be it. The book shows you
how to align your attitude away from your own needs and toward the
needs of the people around you. It is absolutely fantastic.
2) Rich Dad, Poor Dad By Robert T Kiyosaki - This is the clearest
description of the very different ways that successful people and
unsuccessful people think about money. I don't think there is as much
cheese in the real estate market as there once was, but the concepts
are applicable everywhere.
3) Power Selling By Steven Power - This is an excellent description
of the proper way to conduct outside sales.
Right now, I'm reading The McGraw-Hill 36 Hour Accounting Course by
Robert L Dixon and Harold E Arnett. I'm sure there is a better primer
for accounting out there, but this is the book that I own. I might as
well trudge through it. The authors make a lot of asides about the
foolishness of popular accounting. That stuff may be true, but it is
absolutely worthless for my purposes.
I'm looking for a general business book, something like a text book
that covers a lot of different topics. I try to stay away from the
inspirational stuff. I want to improve my business a***en, not feel
warm and fuzzy.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thank you for your help.
Steven
