I am starting an IT consulting/software development/staffing firm. My
questions are simple but show my complete lack of knowledge of how to
get started.
I have a resume of someone I could place at a large company as a
contractor. I want this person to work for my firm (LLC) and the large
company (ABC corp.) would cut checks to my firm, and I would
subsequently cut a check to the employee (after I scrape a bit off the
top).
So is this how its normally done? If so how does one actually set this
up with ABC corp.? If the employee works for my LLC then do I have the
choice of them being 1099 vs. W2? What about ABC corp, do they hire the
employee as a contractor but direct the checks to my LLC, or do they
hire my firm for services? How does one actually do it (forms,
contracts, etc.)??? Help!
What I'm really looking for here is concrete information of how to
proceede next. I am mostly concerned about how to actually set this all
up with ABC corp, and less concerned about what my LLC has to do as far
as taxes and fillings.
