There's another case of domain theft . German registrar Schlund & Partner,
selling domain registration services as www.1and1.com , apparently has
stolen another valuable domain from its customer. This domain name is
webchix.net.
It seems, the Modus Operandi of 1and1.com is like this: They keep track of
every valuable domain in their customers' database. When they see some
true
gems in there, they add some never ordered by customer servcices, such as
web hosting to that customer account and start charging him for that.
Obviously, the customer never pays the bill for services that have never
been ordered or used. Then the company disables the customer's access to
his
domain management site. The customer therefore can not do anything with
the
domain, can't even transfer it to another registrar.
Meanwhile, 1and1.com allows that domain to expire, then sells it for big
bucks to somebody else. They usually do this with domains, registered by
foreign customers, such as those in the United States, Japan, China, etc.,
as they think they are not going to be taken to court by a foreigner.
The lesson here is: stay away from www.1and1.com and tell everybody you
know
to do the same.
