Trademarking a domain base

by "stan@[EMAIL PROTECTED] " <stan@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sep 7, 2006 at 01:31 PM

Situation:

1) I have had a domain name registered for considerable time (8 years)
2) A site with that domain name has been up and running for several
years
3) My home country is not a party to the Madrid Protocol

Objective:

To make sure that I have adequate protection for the name in internet
useage

Questions:

Is it im****tant to trademark the domain base name (example: the
"xyz" of xyz.com)?

If the answer to the above question is yes, then where should one seek
trademark (home country, U.S., under Madrid Protocol to all member
countries based on U.S. application...)?
