Hi,
Anyone know how .net transfer is meant to take place? I'm trying to
transfer
my .net domain from Lycos to ukreg. Normally you initiate these things
from
the registrar it's being transferred to, in this case ukreg, I had already
done 2 other domain types (.biz & .info) successfully. However when I
tried
..net it failed, I checked the domain was older than 60 days (its 2 years)
and not less than 40 days till renewal (it's about 5 months). So phoned
ukreg sup****t, they told me it was because the domain was registrar-locked
and I would have to phone Lycos and ask them to unlock it. Which I did,
after explaining to the Lycos tech sup****t guy what I wanted to do, he
explained that they couldn't unlock it until they received a request for
transfer from the new registrar. So I phoned ukreg back up and told the
tech
sup****t guy there was the tech sup****t guy at Lycos had said, but this guy
was adamant they wouldn't be able to initiate a transfer UNTIL it was
unlocked. Anyway I've gone back and forth between each registrar, and
neither have been any help. I only wish I could do a 3 way conference, and
get them to argue it out over the phone! Why can't these things be
simple!!
Anyway, who's right? Lycos or UKReg? How does .net transferral work? Does
it
have to be unlocked first, or a request made first?
Cheers
Ben
