IMO it was a total c0ck up from start to finish.
They sent me our card and letter said "here is your replacement OnLine
banking card".
We'd never had one before.
No mention of a machine at all on that letter.

2 wks later, machine turns up.

I rang to ask them why they'd said "replacement card" and she said
something along the lines of "that's because we sent part of a batch
of cards out that were wrong and had to reissue them".

Amateurs!

(and I have changed the PIN - so I've go that further wasting of my
time to follow...)
