He means uk.people.consumers.ebay
There's not much spam, but it *is* populated by a large array of idiots,
trolls and bitter people¹, most of who don't regard themselves as such
on the sole basis that they are regular "contributors".
I think you'll find it is populated by people who earn a large part of
their
income if not all in some cases, selling on ebay.
But they are also buyers who understand both sides of the system.
What you tend to find is you get a poster comes along who only understands
one half of the system and then professes to extol the virtues of the new
feedback system. And then completely close their ears to all the flaws in
it
and then argue the point that the sellers are over exagerating the
scammers
& thieves that use the system holes. They then claim to deny that there is
a
problem, even when it is pointed out to them that they cannot know this
because they are not a volume seller and therefore have no knowledge or
expertise to make such judgements.
The other sort of poster is the one that comes along and asks the same
question that has been debated ad nauseum and 2 minutes of Googling or
looking at previous threads would have answered all their questions.
Before someone jumps in to repeat that dishonest/unreasonable on ebay are
rare, a small sample of this week's wonders,
The buyer with several hundred feedback that has decided to buy top up
vouchers and then claim it wasn't him.
The buyer that returned a phone due to it being faulty, it isn't the phone
I
sent him, different imei number, it'll be interesting to see if I can this
through to the paypal monkeys.
The buyer who I drove around to and dropped the parcel off to because it
was
only another couple of miles past the post office, who thinks the postage
should have been free.
The buyer that has decided he doesn't want his phone anymore, but it is
over
14 days, but is now hinting it might be faulty, i.e. if I don't accept it
back, he'll break it.
The buyer with -1 feedback who despite my having the automatic block on in
my ebay settings, that still managed to buy a £100 phone. If I don't
supply
him he can still me even though he shouldn't have been able to buy from me
in the first place.
Of course, they'll be nothing on any of these people's accounts to warn
people in future. Human nature being what it is, once they've realised
they
can get away with it once, do you think they're going to stop there?
So you'll forgive me for being a bit of an idoit, bitter troll, but some
of
us have just got a bit jaded with it and all the moves by Donahoe to
increase shareholder value which are trumpeted as improving the buyer
experience and the sheep/buyers that blindly believe every word that comes
from the ebay PR Dept.
As for retaliatory negs, since when did a neg effect a buyer's account.
How
many people have had their money refunded from a seller, saying sorry your
feedback is not good enough? The only time buyers would get refused is if
they'd tried some scam for a particular product and were going for the
same
sort of product again.
