The thing is, the tax take has risen dramatically on the back of recent
petrol and diesel price rises.
The government, however, are *still* talking about putting another 2p a
litre on, in addition to increasing car tax for vehicles that use more
petrol and hence pay increased tax in any case. There must be about 80p a
litre now instead of 60p going in duty and VAT, so a 2p rise is only a 10%
rise on the recent rise if that makes sense.
The only solution is to lobby for more viable alternatives and don't vote
Labour or Liberal as they both believe it is ok. to tax a necessity on the
grounds of "the environment".
