Roaches / Maxforce bait station question please!

by Kage.Narakuma@[EMAIL PROTECTED] May 10, 2008 at 03:28 PM

We have a fairly severe German cockroach problem that was present in
the house when we moved in and has only gotten worse despite using
various things (that seemed to have no effect). So, I started reading
and researching and decided to purchase the Maxforce FC products
online. We CANNOT afford an exterminator. So, we have a 72 count
package of the Maxforce FC bait stations as well as 2 2.1 ounce tubes
of the Maxforce FC bait gel.

My questions:

Does the use of the gel in combination with the bait stations mean
less bait stations will be needed? In other words, o I need to
decrease the recommended amount of bait stations per 100 sf placed if
I'm also using the gel?

The package instructions for the bait stations are confusing to me.
The bag states 4-6 bait stations should be used for every 100 square
feet. By my calculations this would mean we would need 48 to 72 bait
stations for a 1200 square foot house. Then it says not to use more
than 24 bait stations per residence. Huh? Why not? And isn't this
contradictory to the instructions? We have a six room house including
one bathroom. Four per room would be 24 total but I think that the
kitchen and bathroom would require 6 each due to the level of
infestation.

I just don't want to use to many if it will somehow affect the results
negatively but I also don't see how I can do the recommended 4 to 6
per 100 sf without using too many. Each room (besides the bathroom)
is bigger than 100 sf anyway. If we used the recommended 4 to 6 per
100 sf, one room would have 8 stations if it's a 200 sf room...
right??

Please respond if you can help me understand how many bait stations I
need to use and what, if anything, would happen if I placed more than
24 around the house.

Please do NOT lecture me on the pitfalls of DIY pest control or tell
me to hire someone. Believe me, I would much rather have hired
someone in the first place but we spent about $60 total on the
Maxforce stuff, and there are no pest control pros who are going to
come here for that low amount and treat the house for roaches. It's
not a matter of "trying to save a few bucks" but a matter of not
HAVING more than what we already spent. Even the $60 was a deep kick
to the budget.. so please no lectures there.
