My guess would be fungus gnats from the plants. Inspect the top of the
soils/base of the plants with a bright flash light, if they are there
you will see them. If you have a sink or tub that is not in use, the
water may of eva****ated from the trap allowing gnats to enter from the
sewer. If you are in the part of the country that has had more than
their share of rain this year and still have wet soil near the structure
they may be coming from outside and of course if your home is a pier and
beam structure there is always a chance of leaking pipes underneath
allowing them to live then they find their way inside. The source needs
to be found for the best treatment can be suggested.
There are also gnats that are attracted to rotting onions and potatoes,
so make sure they are not a problem too.
