Re: Rat Piss Myth

Bitrex is a bittering agent. Rats and mice WILL eat it, but other
mammals find it too distasteful. It is used in anticoagulant
rodenticides. It is NOT used to deter rodent activity... never has
been.

Rats don't always follow straight lines. The White Throated Wood Rat
(Pack Rat) free-ranges across rocks, under bushes and every direction
between.

Rats are more inteligent than the average human 2-year-old. They
won't walk off a ledge to their doom if they can't sense the bottom.
They solve problems. Rats can solve mazes. Rats can be potty-
trained. They've been trained to play basket-ball (of course on a
miniture scale) through positive reinforcement. They understand that
sharp noises are something to fear. Wood Rats bring cactus pads to
their dens to deter predators from entering. They sniff eachothers'
butts and mouths to see what someone else ate and to see if it made
them healthy or sick... and they learn what is good to eat and what is
bad to eat. You're guess at a rat's IQ is disturbing... what other
facts have you screwed-up?

It won't help. I've torn apart rat nests which have been in a crawl
space for years. If there are dogs on the property, the rats will
sometimes bring in the dog poop, dog toys and anything else they can
find. Dog urine does nothing.

Bitrex has no odor. Again, getting your facts wrong... very wrong.
Mothballs are more poisonous than cigarettes and should never be used
lightly. Peppermint oil is unproven and unless you've got some
scientific evidence or a re****t from a university you shouldn't
mention it.

The best way to keep rats out of a house is to use mechanical
exclusion methods to block access. Keeping the hood open on your car
will help deter the rats as well, especially if a drop-light is
attached to your hood at night and left on.

Please check your facts and run a spell-check on your next post.

All-in-all I give your post a D+ for facts and a C- for spelling.
