We always thought that a good deterrent for Rodents was anywhere
from Micturating on your car wheels, Mothballs, Bitrex, Peppermint oil,
most
mints, then went to dogs hair, and other what would seem to be a deterrent
like a s****skin....
The Rat knows nothing but to follow it's own feces, to the last
location it had a good score, which is usually inline with the
closest/dastest distance between 2 points along walls/doors...
The Rodent/Rat has an IQ of like 3-->4 and is almost blind, so what
does it know from a dog piss or s**** skin, if it has never seen a live
one
and it's effect....they have a 60,000X olfactory system and are almost
blind.
The rat/mouse usually has seen a people and they do fear people so
human micturation may be useful as a mild deterrent although I noticed all
it does is Mask their last turf...and they start over.....so why does a
dog
pissing on your tires make it rodent proof from hydraulic, wiring rodent
damage....it helps, but it ain't bullet proof.
As for stuff like Mothballs, Bitrex, it stinks, it works...great
for the outdoors and maybe add a lot of Sulphur, but Peppermint oil is a
bit
pricy at some $12 per 25ml...it works but is it cost you a mint....and has
to be reapplied every 3 months or so.
Bait and Trap is the best, but again you are attracting more than
what you had, and that works with a lot of cheese, peanut butter....but
you
have to make up yoour war plan as a either a deterrent/repellent or just a
kewl execution....
