I think tipping has gone overboard IMHO. The customer has now been
relegated to having to not only pay for their services but then tip
them as well because the owners are too cheap to pay their employees
what they deserve.

I *do* believe that some services, (like wait staff), need to be
tipped but now *everyone* wants to be tipped for merely doing their
jobs. I now see ca****ers at stores with tip jars on the
counter...come on folks, that's just going too far. I'm willing to
pay more for services if it's just all inclusive, this continual
reaching in the wallet and handing out bills through a gauntlet of
outstretched hands gets *really* old after while.

And, if we all really tipped based on the service we receive, maybe
we'd GET better service. As it stands, many people *expect* good tips
even when their services were either mediocre or downright
unprofessional.

This is not to say that I'm against tipping...far from it...but there
seems to be this "I should get a tip no matter how I treat you" for
damn near everything anymore and that's what I've got a beef about
(hairstylists and barbers are in the "should tip" category btw..just
to make that clear). ;-)
