Be careful before changing from AAA towing service to towing on your Auto
Insurance. The auto insurance towing will be cheaper (to start with), but

there is a hidden trap with many of the auto policies. They count the
number of claims (including towing charges) and, when the claims reach a
certain number, they either drop you or raise your rates. Years ago, when
I
had coverage with Nationwide, someone put sugar in my gas tank, and I had
to
have the car towed 3 different times before getting rid of it. The towing

totaled about $80. That plus a couple small fender benders resulted in
their dropping me even thought they collected about $4000 from me in
premiums in a 4 year period (including my "Homeowners") and only paid
about
a total of $600 to $700 in claims. I even first checked with my
Nationwide
Agent before claiming the small towing charges. He said, "sure you can
claim it, that's what insurance is for." When my policy was up for
renewal,
I got a letter from Nationwide curtly stating they were dropping me from
my
present policy but, if I chose to do so, would cover me from a high risk
subsidiary they owned. My cost would have more than doubled. It probably

wouldn't have happened without the very minor towing charges. I learned
my
lesson. I learned never to select towing coverage on my auto insurance
policies.
Al
PS - I got short-sheeted by "Nationwide's blanket of protection."
