1. If you buy a home in a town that has just a volunteer fire service,
you'll pay higher rates than for a neighborhood that has a full-time
fire service. Know that your premiums will be further influenced by
the distance of your home from a fire station, firefighting equipment
or hydrant. Individuals who reside nearest to firefighters or fire
fighting facilities attract cheaper rates all other things being
equal.
