I tested it with THREE browser: Firefox, Opera and IE. They are all
set to accept all cookies, javascript, etc. Still, I can't get
through.

I'm sure that this "glitch" is less likely limited to my particular
settings, and more likely networked across many Google usenet
participants.

Don't presume when you yourself haven't a clue!
