I live in a rural town****p just outside of Christchurch in the South
Island of " Clean Green New Zealand "
Our Local Council recently gave a neighbouring racetrack ( Ruapuna )
permission change their hours of operation and noise levels from 10
hours
a day, 120 days a year with the highest decibel level being 85dBa.
To this Travesty :
Operational noise levels of 90dBA L max and 65dBA L 10 (1 hour) to
apply between the hours of 0900 and 2200 hours on any day of the calendar
year ,except that:
. for up to 200 days in any calendar year, the permitted levels
shall be 95dBA L max and 80dBA L 10 (1 hour), between the hours of 0900
and
2300;
. for up to 15 of those 200 days, these activities shall be
permitted up to 2400 hours;
. on up to 5 of those 200 days, no L max level shall be applied.
We are battling a City Council led by an admitted Motor Racing fan.
We have set ourselves a challenge - to find another racetrack anywhere
in
the world with such liberal noise " rules " and hours of operation
Any Challengers ?
There are now residents in this area suffering from depression caused by
the noise from this godforsaken track and its users who have no regard
for
anything but their juvenile and self centered desire to make NOISE
