Wants To Reduce Airspace "Separation" Of Planes!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
As Bill Sees It: (Editorial) Hidden Airspace Redesign "Alternative"
Reduces
Safety Plane Distances!!! Hidden within the (purposefully) highly
technical,
Executive Summary of the Airspace Redesign Plan for New York, New Jersey
and
Philadelphia is a plan to reduce plane "separation!!!" The change of the
current 5 mile separation to a three mile separation in crowded New
York/New
Jersey airspace looks to me to be a major decrease in air safety.
Currently
planes are allowed to be only three miles apart near air****ts as they are
allegedly flying slower. At higher altitudes, planes must be five miles
apart because planes are flying faster and pilots have less time to react
to
an emergency. This may, as the executive summary says, lead to an
"increased
ability to meet system demand" and "greater air****t throughput" (FAAspeak
for more planes), but what about the reduction in air safety in the
already
overcrowded New York to Philadelphia metropolitan airspace? The FAA, as
always, uses increased use of computers as an excuse to reduce safety.
What
they fail to put in their skewed equations is the fact that computers
fail!!! When that happens, with hundreds of planes in a small airspace, it
could mean a collision of not only two, but perhaps even more, planes. Why
isn't the air traffic controller's union protesting this reduction in air
safety? No doubt this proposed change be another bargaining chip to expand
their exorbitant salaries.
Corruption Is A Way Of Life In Wa****ngton: It is nice to see the culture
of
corruption that runs the American political system getting
exposed....again.
I saw that plane builder Northrop Grumman was listed as one of the top
Wa****ngton lobbyists by NBC. You can see political corruption in action in
the FAA's Airspace Redesign Plan were political influence is used to
continue the "Lawence Divergence" to divert night flights away from
wealthy,
politically connected communities near JFK Air****t and concentrate them on
poor, minority communities. But corruption and lobbyist money is so much
part of both parties makeup that, after a few minor heads roll, the money
flow for the thoroughly corrupt system will continue and no doubt
increase.
Bush's Latest Assault On American's Freedoms: No comment on corruption
from
President Polluter, who was busy this week signing a bill that stopped
anonymous posting on the Internet. This is clearly designed stop
government
and cor****ate whistle blowers, or anyone who wants to express an opinion
online without fear of retribution. I guess lying about weapons of mass
destruction in order to drag America into war wasn't enough for this
would-be tyrant.
England: Noise Group Fight British Government's Latest Air****t Expansion
Effort: Government plans to expand Heathrow will make life for nearby
Hounslow residents "unbearable". This is the view of pressure group Hacan
ClearSkies who says the proposed third runway could result in over 700,000
flights using Heathrow each year as opposed to the 470,000 last year.
Chairman John Stewart said the increase in flights would be "like living
under a sky of sound". In addition to the third runway, concerns have also
been raised about the proposal to scrap the system of runway alternation
and
replace it with a mixed mode. At present one runway is used for landings
and
the other for take-offs with their roles switching at 3pm each day. But
under mixed mode, planes could be flying overhead all day. Mr Stewart
said:
"I think that for people in Hounslow ending runway alternation would take
away their lifeline. "What makes life bearable for residents in west
London
is the half day's peace and quiet. To take that away is just going to make
life unbearable for people under the flight path."

Airline With Near Collision At JFK Air****t Gets License For JFK To Israel
Route: JERUSALEM (AP) _ Israir, an Israeli charter airline, is receiving
rights to operate regular flights to New York and back, the Tourism
Ministry
announced Monday. The New York route is one of the most profitable in the
local market. Tourism Minster Avraham Hirchson said the Israir license
would
be good for two years, during which time the need for a second carrier on
the route would be evaluated. Is air and other companies have been
operating
charter flights to New York, and an Israir plane was involved in a
near-crash at John F. Kennedy International Air****t on July 6. A passenger
Boeing 767 operated by Israir missed a turn onto a taxiway and continued
on
a runway, apparently coming within 100 feet of a DC-8 cargo jet that was
taking off, according to initial re****ts. An investigation was launched,
but
no results have been made public.

"A competent congressional staff will check on whether or not a
manufacturer
made a contribution last year, and that will typically affect the
enthusiasm
with which the office seeks an earmark for the following year," Wheeler
said. While openly discussing fundraising is forbidden for both staff and
lawmakers as well as contractors, "both sides understand it s going to
occur," he said. http://www.redlandsdailyfacts.com/news/ci_3407944
Slimy Congressman Got Trip Paid For By Aviation Company!!! Ohio Rep.
Robert
Ney (picture on left) personally lobbied the then Secretary of State Colin
Powell to relax U.S. sanctions on Iran. Who asked him to? A convicted
airplane broker who had just taken the congressman and a top aide on an
expense-paid trip to London, Newsweek has learned. Ney's lawyer confirmed
to
Newsweek that federal prosecutors have subpoenaed records on Ney's
February
2003 trip paid for by Nigel Winfield, a thrice-convicted felon who ran a
company in Cyprus called FN Aviation. Winfield was seeking to sell
U.S.-made
airplane spare parts to the Iranian government - a deal that would have
needed special permits because of U.S. sanctions against Tehran. Ney's
lawyer, Mark Tuohey, said Ney had no idea of Winfield's criminal past,
which
included a 1982 conviction for trying to swindle Elvis Presley in an
airplane deal and two more in the late 1980s for tax evasion.

Political
Corruption Is American As Apple Pie: Then there is Linda Daschle, wife of
former Senate minority leader Tom Daschle; she's represented American
Airlines. During the '90s she served as a deputy administrator of the FAA.
In the past her husband was a major recipient of airlines contributions.
Linda Daschle is viewed as a key member of the airlines industry team of
lobbyists who have fought against stiffer federal regulations and opposed
safety measures such as reinforcing cockpit doors. Linda Hall Daschle,
wife
of (former) Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., has lobbied since
1997 for some of the U.S. government's largest contractors. According to
federal lobbying records, Mrs. Daschle represents Boeing and United
Technologies on Capitol Hill, even as these interests depend on her
husband's official acts in the Senate for their federal contracts. The
income Mrs. Daschle ultimately derives from her clients also enters the
Daschle family budget, improving Sen. Daschle's finances as he considers
actions that will affect these clients. The exact amount Mrs. Daschle
earns
from her lobbying activities remains unknown, since the senator told Human
Events he will not make their joint tax return public.

****tland Air****t Communities "May" Get Night Flights Cut: The Federal
Aviation Administration will consider limiting the number of planes that
fly
over ****tland neighborhoods at night. A proposal from the FAA and a
coalition of residents would also require planes to ascend to 500 feet
before turning south over ****tland neighborhoods. The agreement reached
last
week comes more than a year after residents organized to complain about
noise. The FAA still must test new flight patterns and analyze other
aspects
of the agreement. Public meetings are planned for this spring, before the
proposals are fully implemented, said Laura Schneider of the FAA's
****tland
office. Small cargo planes are a major source of air****t noise in some
****tland neighborhoods. The flights are generally routed along a single
path
over North and Northeast neighborhoods, Schneider said. So besides
analyzing
altitudes and flight times, the FAA will consider dispersing planes over a
wider swath of ****tland, with routes over the west side, the central east
side and the Willamette River corridor.

Editor's
Note: The FAA prefers to concentrate planes over politically weak, poor
and/minority communities, so I predict their period of "consideration" of
fairly sharing night time overflight noise will be very short.
