E. SIDE FIEND: 'I WANTED ***'
By JAMIE SCHRAM and C.J. SULLIVAN
May 8, 2007 -- A would-be rapist stalking the Upper East Side viciously
attacked two women, who bravely fought him off and later identified him
for
cops, police sources said yesterday.
"I was *****, and I wanted to have ***," pathetic pervert Carlos Sorias
shrugged to police after they busted him on May 4 - his 28th birthday,
sources told The Post.
Cops said the creep's first attack occurred at 4:15 a.m. April 15, after
he
followed a woman into her East 77th Street apartment building. The puny,
5-foot-4, 120-pounder allegedly pushed the woman against a wall, fondled
her
breast and tried to unbuckle his pants - only to flee as she fought back.
"I just wanted some *** from this woman," the suspect later told cops.
His victim, a stunning, 24-year-old blonde, told The Post yesterday that
it
was raining that night and she was having trouble with the inner
vestibule's
door lock when she was attacked.
"I had my hood up, and I wasn't really paying attention," the woman said.
"I
heard the outer door open, and he ran up and grabbed me. "He turned around
and pushed me against the door. He wasn't trying to rob me because he went
right after my chest. That's when I kicked him anywhere I could . . . at
least seven times. I was screaming, and he turned and ran off."
Sorias allegedly struck again a few weeks later, in the wee hours of his
birthday, as he followed another woman into her East 83rd Street building.
He got the woman in a choke hold, flung her to the ground and molested her
-
but ran off when she also fought back, the sources said.
The woman called police and described her attacker, and Sorias was picked
up
less than a half-hour later on East 90th Street, sources said. Both
victims
identified him, police said.
Bail was set at $50,000 on charges of attempted rape, burglary and ***ual
abuse, according to the Manhattan DA's Office.
"I feel better he got arrested," the first victim said. "I still get a
little nervous when someone is behind me, but I'm feeling better."
She said cops told her Sorias was an illegal immigrant. He had been hired
May 3 as a dishwasher at a nearby restaurant and had worked only one day
before his bust.
