Ever since the Reagan era, with it's conservative, right wing, just say no
to drugs policy slant,
no one can have any fun more.. why, I remember going to a concert in 1984,
and my army buddy (he's a 40 year old sgt. now)
get's caught with a fiver of oil by the police at the gate, and they just
let him go through. Now, you can lose your
yact for having a roach in the ashtray in Florida? All they want to do is
fry people in the chair for minor offences
anyway..
Frankly, I'm not really "pro" drugs, I don't smoke or drink heavily, but
I'm
sick of this right wing crap designed
to scapegoat drug users. These laws proposed by old dry politicians are
jut
designed to get votes by scapegoating
cool people - let's face it, if they had friends and were invited to the
good parties high school, they wouldn't have gone into politics.
This is really no minor thing. Eveyone has done drugs. An army captian
once
told me that one in ten have smoked pot.(that probably included himself).
Indians used to smoke it in South Amreica as part of a "coming of age"
ritual. North Amreican indians used to smoke it in ceremonies as well. .
Including those passing the legistation against drugs. The right-wing nazi
communist -partylike political scapegoating of occasional,
recreation -non-addictive soft durg users is an infiringment of societies'
right to get high whenever it wants.
Occasional marijuanna use does one no harm. The old lady across the street
who clutches her purse in fear when a heavy metal guy gets on the bus is
in
no way affected by someone's elses drug smoking. Drinking beer or wine or
liqour - which you can buy in a corner store - gives you hangoevers, you
see
double, you stagger drunkenly, you throw up, sometimes there is family
viloence, you smash your car up.. but with pot, hash or oil, there are no
side effects as described above. The "refeer maddness" st*****ypes are used
to play ont he ingnorance of the general populace to get votes by fatcats
using our tax money
to finance there mob buddies running the unions in the New York City \
Miami
harbourfronts, to keep getting them elected.

If it were simply legalized, nd then grown by the governemnt, then the
mobs
and organzied crime's control of it would
stop. whihc could be put into gun control laws, which is the largest crime
problem
in the US right now (in Japan, with had a popluation of 200 million, there
were only 200 gun realted deaths in the year 1991-92; they have stronger
gun
control laws. In the US, there were about 2000. This is directly
attributalbe to their lax gun control laws. Why do we need handguns
anyway?
Profits for Smith and Wesson, while corner stores are robbed every
weekend?).
The governemtn could generate ta revenue to put into combatting these
crimes, rather than making criminals out of drug users.
So, rather than careening down this disiasterous "three strikes your out"
policy of the Clinton era, targeted especially to drug users - a guy from
the Woodstock era! That only served to keep the incareration level at it's
highest ever in US history, despite the largest boom in US history..they
should focus their efforts towards decrminilizing pot hash and oil, leave
them alone, and rather than being out of touch get down to buisness on
tougher gun control laws. if they had have done it two hundred years ago,
then Lincon and Kennedy might have lived.
