Lies ... lies ... lies
The Bush Administration spins lies faster than we can do***ent them. In
writing 1984, George Orwell explained how lies worked. The Soviet Union's
Communist Party and Germany's National Socialists had already shown how
"the
big lie" works. Orwell wrote "Everything faded into mist. The past was
erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became truth." That seems to be
what George Bush and his cronies are depending on.
Spin on, Mister Bush, spin on. Spin faster. Soon you'll just spin yourself
into a hole that even Karl Rove can't get you out of.
The goal of this website is to expose the lies so that they will not
become
the truth.

New (10/16/05): A short movie
George W. Bush, Highlights of the President's Efforts to Restore Dignity
and
Honor to the White House
That's what the Bush administration promised, but has it delivered? The
movie is in Quicktime (mov) format, which many media players can handle. A
larger version is available (22MB). Contace me (see bottom of page) if you
want a copy.

Ongoing lies and deceptions
New Orleans, the Southeast, and Katrina
Trent Lott's new house isn't exactly a lie, but an indication of how out
of
touch this elitist little presidential twit is when it comes to suffering.
Read it.
A New Orleans Times-Picayune editorial calls the Bush administration on
its
many lies. Read it.
New Orleans Times-Picayune columnist Lolis Eric Elie points out that
there's
still too much ass kissing going on, too many photo ops, and not enough
effort. Read it.
Other New Orleans accounts. Read them.

The Iraq Debacle
How does the Bush administration's wartime performance compare with that
of
the Roosevelt administration during World War II? Click here.
The righties like to send us off to war, but they don't like to go
themselves. Ever wonder who served? Examine this list.
Miscellaneous Lies (including New Orleans 2005)
Except for the section dealing with lies about the war in Iraq, this will
probably be the largest section. If Mister Bush is writing or talking,
there's a good chance that he's lying. (Some general Katrina lies are in
this section.)

Prehistoric lies
This section will describe lies told by the liar in training. I expect
this
to be a relatively small area, not because Mister Bush lied any less in
his
youth, but because it will be difficult to find corroborating evidence.

Early lies
This section will discuss do***ented lies dealing with Mister Bush's
campaign to be governor of Texas and his term as governor.

Presidential lies
Prior to the terrorist attacks in 2001, George W. Bush began to amass a
remarkable record as a liar. We'll look at some of his pre-9/11
fabrications
here.

The Liar in Chief
Lies surrounding the war in Iraq are among the most amazing deceits
perpetrated by any political leader in history. These are the lies that
will
guarantee Mister Bush a place in the history books.
Go there.
Odds and Ends
This is a section that contains observations that have occurred to me or
that I've encountered elsewhere. While these aren't necessarily lies told
by
Mister Bush or his associates, they are indicative of this "honest"
president's understanding of what is meant by the term.
Go there.
The Bush Presidential Lie-brary
Books about George Bush's tendency to lie, spin, and deceive are being
written faster than we can read them. Here are some that provide the kind
of
evidence that only the brainwashed could ignore.
Go there.
Stand Up to the Lies
I've created bumper stickers and other materials that are being sold on
Cafe
Press (there's a link from the following page). Most of them are shown
here
and you have my permission to use the design in any way you see fit at no
charge.

The Burning Bush
Mister Bush likes the Bible, but he's rather selective in his quoting of
the
book. He particularly likes Leviticus, but what about the rest of that
book?
Read it. (This is an Adobe ****table do***ent format file.)
Who ... what ... why ... when?
I feel obliged to point out that I don't hate George W. Bush. When he
resigned from office, Richard M. Nixon cautioned against hating others,
"Those who hate you don't win unless you hate them, and then you destroy
yourself."
I dislike the lies George W. Bush tells. I find the people he surrounds
himself with to be despicable sycophants. I am astonished and disappointed
that half of the people in the country bought this man's exaggerations,
misstatements, and lies. But I don't hate the man.
And I don't want to see another person like him in the White House when
his
current term ends.
The "scholar's column"
The column at the left will include, as required, an index for that page
(at
the top) and this index will be followed by somewhat random comments and
quotations that I feel are appropriate to this discussion.
Who am I?
Considering the political climate of the United States today, saying who I
am could be dangerous. The vice president and his minions consider me to
be
guilty of treason. I still hope that most reasonable people will
understand
that opposition to bad government policies (and bad government) is
actually
an indication of love for one's country. But I could be wrong.
No matter. The moment I registered the domain name, my identity became a
part of the public record that went with the registration. I could have
hidden behind a false identity, but that would seem more than a little
disingenuous. So here's who I am:
William F. Blinn, owner of William Blinn Communications. I live in
Worthington, Ohio, a red state. I'm not going to include my address or
phone
number, even though I know both are easy enough for cranks to find. At the
bottom of this page is an e-mail address that will send a message to me.
Presidential Lies
The Bush Line The Truth
The president claims that he and the members of his administration pay no
attention to politics and polls. Not exactly. "There is no precedent in
any modern White House for what's going on in this one: A complete lack of
policy apparatus. What you've got is everything-and I mean
everything-being
run by the political arm." John DiIulio, the head of Bush's program to
give
federal tax money to religious groups, quoted in the Wa****ngton Post (2
Dec
2002)
George Bush says that he didn't really know Enron CEO Ken Lay and that Lay
gave money to his opponents in his Texas races for Congress and to become
governor. Mister Bush may not have "known" Lay, but Lay personally
donated nearly $50,000 to Bush's campaign in 1994 and $75,000 to his
campaign in 1998. Enron donated more than $312,000 to the two campaigns.
Enron loaned one of its cor****ate jets to the Bush campaign in 2000. Enron
contributed $100,000 to the inaugural committee. Lay and Jeffrey Skilling
each kicked in another $100,000. Yes, each. In addition, Enron kicked in
another $1.1 million dollars to the GOP in 2000. This is pretty good
service
from someone Mister Bush didn't know. Did Enron donate money to the
opposition? Yes, a pittance compared to what it gave the Bushes, though.
Big
companies like to butter their bread on both sides, but they know which
side
should get the most.
P.S.: In his book, Fraud: The Strategy Behind the Bush Lies, Paul Waldman
notes that Bush sent a birthday letter to Ken Lay in 1997. In that letter,
he told the man he later denied knowing (and he denied Lay at least as
many
times as Judas denied Jesus) "One of the sad things about old friends is
that they seem to be getting older-just like you!...Laura and I value our
friend****p with you."
"To keep farms in the family, we are going to get rid of the death tax."
(Geroge W. Bush, quoted in the New York Times, April 8, 2001) An Iowa
(a
state with a fair number of farms, the last time I checked) State
University
Economist was unable to find even a single case of a family farm being
sold
to pay estate taxes. The American Farm Bureau Federation tried hard to
find
cases, too, so that they could be used to promote the Farm Bureau's
anti-tax
position. They failed, too. (New York Times, April 8, 2001)
The so-called "death tax" doesn't kick in on inheritances under $675,000
and
that was scheduled to rise to $1,000,000 in 2006. Eliminating the tax
allows
the richest of the rich to pass huge amounts of money from one generation
to
the next. It does nothing to help the vast majority of Americans.
